At 24 years old, I am not embarrassed to admit that I still believe in fairy tales. I always have, and I hope I always will. No matter what anyone tries to tell you, there’s just something so satisfying about a happy ending. It unites people, turns the jaded into believers and can bring hope back into the eyes of cynics.
Throughout my life though, I’ve learnt that fairytale moments can be few and far between, and if you’re waiting for a big gesture, you could be waiting a while. That’s why it’s important to reap happiness wherever you can, every day if you can, and it’s the little things that count.
Starry nights, kisses on the cheek, falling asleep to the sound of rain, when someone gives you flowers, sleep-ins on Sunday mornings, fresh smelling sheets, taking something to the register and being told it’s on sale, packing for a holiday, catching a stranger’s eye and making them smile, receiving a handwritten letter in the mail, hearing a song that perfectly matches your mood, popping bubble wrap, the sound of cicadas in summer, when someone saves the last piece for you, laughing so hard your stomach hurts, the smell of breakfast, licking the beaters, fairy lights, caramel thick shakes, books you can’t put down, fireworks and sparklers, staying on the phone to someone you like late into the night, unexpected compliments, when you re-read a message and it still gives you butterflies.

It’s these little infusions of joy that can dramatically change your state of mind- and speaking of little things that make a big difference brings me to thinking about jewellery.
If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you may have noticed that I love jewellery and I change it with every outfit that I wear. For me it’s the icing on the cake (and we all know that’s the best part) of any ensemble. I’m also a big fan of fine jewellery- dainty little bits of sparkle that I can mix and match.
So when I had the opportunity to play with PANDORA, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Every earring, charm and ring is a piece of personal storytelling, designed so that women can create and combine the collections to suit their personal style.
Each piece on its own is beautiful, but combined, they make for incredible jewellery with the ability to give the wearer a sense of self expression.
And I guess that’s like the little things in life. While they have the ability to make you smile, on their own they aren’t going to make a fairy tale. But combined, there’s infinite potential for unforgettable moments.
