Does anyone recognise this quote: “Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I’m on board”. If you’re anything like me and have seen this movie uncountable times, you’ll recognise it instantly from The Devil Wears Prada.
I echo this sentiment 100% (though in this case I’ve forgone the saloon factor). The strange thing is that in all my years of ballet I never owned a skirt like this, but I’ve always wanted one.
When I stumbled across it during a day of shopping on Oxford St in London last year, I knew without a doubt that it was one of those things I just had to have. Never mind the fact that I had to sit on my suitcase to be able to close it or that I had to execute a hasty wardrobe clean-out to make way for it when I arrived home.
I may never have gotten the opportunity to waft across a stage in a production of La Sylphide, A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Giselle, but I do have the prettiest skirt that takes up way too much room in my closet due to its abundance of mint green tulle. It also has a little bit of sparkle- just enough to make me feel like I’ve stepped straight out of a fairytale when I wear it.
