I love playing with colour, but sometimes I just have those days where I think adding another colour to the palette won’t work. Looking for something on the opposite side of the spectrum clashes, and even something tonal draws attention away from the pieces you are trying to highlight.
I always seem to find myself at this difficult junction when it comes to yellow. It’s such a pretty, happy colour on its own that it’s difficult to find just the right accessories- particularly shoes. When this happens, I tend to revert to my trusty Google to have a look at how the rest of the world is styling it.
There’s always black and white, and a surprising amount of red. Unfortunately for this dress, all those options were too heavy and weren’t going to cut it. I then played with neutral tones and was unsatisfied. They were dull and drab with such a pale shade.

After much contemplation of my wardrobe and a sudden lightbulb moment, I decided to go with gold- after all it’s just the metallic version of yellow right?
Choosing a bag and jewellery was next on the agenda. It didn’t take me much time at all to realise that the only option open to me was to just add more.
Gold bag, gold chains, gold earrings, gold bracelets. I tried to keep everything fine and dainty enough that I wouldn’t look like a Christmas tree, but the fun thing about all the delicate jewellery that is currently my favourite is that you can stack it, layer it and double up and it still looks trendy.
