We don’t really have Autumn and Spring in Australia. Our two seasons, warm and hot, also known as Winter and Summer, seem to fade into one another without much fanfare.
Because of the evergreen trees, we never have those amazing days where it looks as though the earth has been baked and everything is golden and crisp, nor do we have the ceremonial outbreak of shoots and flowers that herald the beginning of Spring.
It wasn’t until my trip to New York earlier this year that I actually saw Spring- and it was quite an education.
For the first time I was privy to the season that I had previously only read about. As the tulips bloomed in riotous colour and people ventured out into Central Park for games of baseball and to row on the lake, there was a definite feeling of awakening and fresh energy in the air.

I also witnessed the very seasonal change in fashion that we don’t see so much of in Australia. Before my very eyes, the shop windows exploded with colour, florals and prints. The thing I love most about the colour palette for Spring is how clean, bright and fresh it always is.
I also feel that spring fashion is more feminine than any other season. Layering becomes more delicate, fabrics softer and less heavy- it’s the comfort of summer dressing with so many more options available.
I’ve never really been a hug fan of shorts (which pretty much define summer fashion in Australia) but these REVIEW ones are so bright and pretty. Because it’s still a little chilly, I added this long-sleeved lace top for a ladylike twist. Voila- Spring dressing at its finest.
