I’m always reading about the life-changing Little Black Dresses (LBD’s) that every woman needs to have in her wardrobe. Apparently they are the easy fix for date nights, dinner with the girls, birthday parties, engagement parties- you get the idea.
The only problem is that when I’m not at work, I like to put a lot of effort into my wardrobe which means I’m not completely psyched by the idea of taking the easy way out. Although I do wear black, those of you who have been following this blog know that I always gravitate towards colour. So it’s probably fitting that when I finally stumbled upon my ultimate LBD, it was as colourful as it’s possible for a LBD to be.
There are a few things I think one should consider when purchasing a LBD, and first and foremost on the list is comfort. If this is the type of wardrobe essential that is your go-to every time you have no clue what to wear, you want to look and feel great in it. This one is made from a thick waffle fabric that sits perfectly, and the overlay top is flattering and functional.
Then I had to find shoes. One would think this was a no-brainer: LBD calls for little black heels, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that the outfit just wasn’t quite right, and there’s nothing worse.
After several unsuccessful hunts for the perfect shoe, I stumbled across this pair. They are so fun and the perfect accompaniment to this dress, plus the blue ankle strap is a chance to incorporate another pop of colour, which I took full advantage of with my clutch and jewellery.
