Try as I may (and let’s be honest, I don’t try very hard at all), I find it impossible to stop reverting back to a certain style of clothing. It amazes me that I own anything that isn’t pink, floaty, floral or has a bow.
Every time I go into a shop with the intention of buying something sharp, tailored or even slightly androgynous, it’s like my brain re-routes and before I know it, I’m making a beeline for all things pretty.
Take this top for example. I was trying to find ripped skinny jeans. I do have a pair, but they are slightly cropped, which leaves my vertically-challenged legs looking like deformed carrots. I had three pairs over my forearm, and was heading for the change room when, like some kind of 5’4″ overgrown Bloodhound, my head swivelled, I saw pink, and the jeans were forgotten.
When I picked it up and realised it was adorned with full, flirty sleeves and a bow in the back, I didn’t even try and talk myself out of it. I think there is something to love about every season, but spring is one of my favourites. The colours, the vibe, the flowers and of course the clothes are all so beautiful, and this top reminded me of that. Think tulips in Central Park in April…

The hydrangea print on these shorts is probably my favourite floral print ever (see it also on this dress from our post “Fairy Wanderings“). Paired with the pink top, I think the colours are even more vibrant and beautiful, and accessorised with flower ball earrings and that fat little bumble bee that’s sitting on my finger, the whole thing definitely says gives the feeling of spring.
It’s not exactly an outfit that’s in-sync with the khakis and greys that are being trotted out in stores everywhere, but it’s so darn pretty, it’s so ME, and I am working on my addiction, promise.
