I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- I’ve never been a Little Black Dress (LBD) kind of gal. I like colour, sparkle and embellishment, and they always seemed like the boring option to me.
Clearly, I wasn’t looking in the right place. Earlier this year (way earlier- I’ve been sitting on this post since February!), I found the PERFECT LBD. So what makes this one so good?
It’s the perfect fit, it’s super flattering, it makes me feel like a million dollars and I know I’ll be pulling it out time and again when I need something to wear.
This particular one is Shona Joy- a label not unknown to me, but definitely unexplored. I was on the hunt for a dress to wear for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend, and obviously I wanted it to be a showstopper. Bethany and I had been scouting racks all evening, but the general consensus was that if it was black, it was also very tight, and I wouldn’t have been dressing true to me.
Dress, Shona Joy, Shoes, Topshop (similar here), Clutch, Samantha Wills (similar here), Earrings, Mimco (similar here), Bangle, Lovisa (similar here)
Then I stumbled across this one. I pulled it out and instantly thought, “no way”. There was so much fabric- a cowl neckline and extra fabric in the skirt at each hip. Still, I was feeling desperate, so trudged off to the change rooms to try it on.
It just came to life. This is not a sponsored post, so believe me when I say that the fabric felt like it was just melting over my body to sit in all the right places.
It’s a little bit flirty, keeps it classy, and is comfortable to boot. There’s definitely something to be said for a piece of clothing that you can just keep reinventing new looks with too. I’ve found a few LBD’s that every girl needs in her wardrobe here, here, here and here. Enjoy!
