You all know how I feel about colour when it comes to my clothes. The past year I’ve found myself exploring it further and have developed a bit of a penchant for patterns.
I once upon a time believed that patterned clothes weren’t very versatile, but the more I play dress-ups with them, the more I realise how wrong I was. Clashing patterns has been a huge trend for years, or you can pick our different colours in the pattern and emphasise them with different block-coloured accessories for different looks.
No sooner had I started to gravitate towards patterns then it became apparent to me that they can be hard to find. Enter Spell and The Gypsy Collective. The Byron Bay-based label is a bohemian’s dream. In their own words, “Spell’s flowing, feminine dresses, love of turquoise, florals and age-old-lace, whisper to the sisters’ (founders Isabella and Elizabeth Spell) own childhood. Spell taps into that sense of nostalgia, beauty and freedom that so compliments the female spirit. The vibrant, expressive part of you that emerges on vacation, or mid-strut at a festival, Spell brings that spirit to life, wherever you are.”

I’ve had my eye on their pieces for ages, but hadn’t come across one that I just couldn’t live without. With the release of their Lotus Collection came this pretty mint dress, reminding me of stained glass windows, Mandalas, exotic adventures and modern-day fairy tales.
