Little Black and Gold Dress

There is something about the combination of black and gold that really ups the ante. It’s instant glamour, a timeless combination, and can make your entire outfit really special. I thought I’d added the perfect LBD to my wardrobe earlier this year, but when I stumbled across this one with a touch of gold embellishment, I knew I’d found a winner.

If you’ve read my blog before, you know I’m a huge fan of lace. Delicate lace, cotton lace, thick lace- I love it all, and so when I saw the lace of this skirt peaking out on the rack, I was instantly drawn to it.

What really sucked me in after that though was the gold detailing. It takes an otherwise nice but ordinary dress and makes it perfect for an event, and now that we are coming into holiday and party season, it’s pieces like this that you want to have on hand.

I actually really agonised over how to style this dress. Initially I was going to pull out a gold clutch and add some big statement earrings, but in the end I decided it would be more clever to just add touches of gold here and there to highlight what was on the dress, rather than overtake what was already a beautiful statement piece.
