If you had told me six months ago that I would be obsessed with tropical print, I would have laughed you all the way into 2020. It’s something I have always associated with middle-aged men, and loud garish colours on a button up shirts, so definitely a hard no from me.
But we are now in 2019, and with Instagram and the worlds of the rich and famous being so easily accessible, virtually everything is becoming more aesthetically pleasing to keep up with our expectations. This means tropical print is making a come-back… in muted pastel shades that are just perfect your ‘gram.
I was originally drawn to these pineapple-print shorts from Zimmermann, but once I saw this dress, there was no turning back. It has all those special little details that are hallmarks of Zimmermann’s designs, like the little rattan belt buckle, and it’s linen, which I am just obsessed with at the moment.
If you are looking for some vacation-perfect pieces, this L*Space romper, this Zulu and Zephyr Dress and this Amelius dress are exactly what you need. If you’re still a bit sceptical about the whole tropical thing, but want to experiment with some less-obvious accessories, this Zimmermann headscarf, these Soludos slides, this Mimco bag and this Country Road scarf are great starting points.
