Shades of Melon

One of my favourite thing about fashion is playing with colours. I can always visualise what I want an outfit to look like in my mind’s eye, and there is nothing more gratifying than when it looks exactly how I thought it would.

I saw this silk t-shirt earlier in the year. The colour reminded me of ripe rockmelon (or cantaloupe to anyone from outside Australia). I resisted buying it, until I stumbled across a skirt online that was like soft watermelon.

I could just see these colours pairing beautifully. They were different enough to not totally blend in, but still looked like they were from the same palette.

T-shirt, AJE, Skirt, Flannel, Shoes, ASOS, Clutch, Michael Kors (similar here), Cuff, old (similar here), Earrings, old (similar here)

Even I was surprised by how striking they were together, especially brightened with some good accessories and accented with a hint of turquoise in my jewellery.

What are some of your favourite colour combinations?

  1. An unusual colour, but I must say it works!
